Technology Considerations
In today's world, students are entering into the digital classroom. Students are using laptops, iPads, and even smart phones to find new and innovative ways to succeed in their learning. However, using technology isn't always easy. One thing that students need to learn is the importance of their digital footprint, and their presence online. In my classroom, I hope to take advantage of my students' technology knowledge to create an open place of discussion about what is right and wrong when using these tools. Whether students use iPads, Macbooks, Chromebooks, or some other technology of the future, I plan on incorporating lessons about using technology tools in the classroom, cyber bulling, and social networking for success into my curriculum.
Websites and Apps for Classroom Management
Using iPad applications to help with classroom and behavior management can be a great way to organize work for teachers, and consolidate the large amounts of paper dealt with each day. These three apps (Pick A Student, ClassDojo, and TeacherKit) are all great ways to get students involved in the classroom and encourage good behavior in a fun way.
As a member of Hope's Educational Technology Team, I have also done extensive research on apps in the classroom, specifically targeting 3rd grade students. This database is an ever-changing site filled with the research we have completed in 1:1 classroom technology.
